Configure routine tasks

Tasks are the reusable steps in a routine. Use the mobile editor to configure their names, notes, timers, repetitions, rests, and subtask structure for future runs.

Routine task settings with timing and rest options

Basic task details

Give each task a short name and put fuller instructions in its notes. Make it a subtask when it is part of a larger step. Reordering tasks or changing their level updates the routine for future runs. Duplicate Task copies the task and its subtasks. Delete Task removes the task without a second confirmation.

Timing and repetition

Set a duration when Play View should time the step. Add repetitions if it must be performed more than once, and add a rest when there should be a pause between rounds. These settings guide the run; they are not due dates.

Answer fields

The current mobile routine task editor does not provide controls to add or change answer fields.

Assignment

The current mobile routine task editor does not provide task-assignment controls. When you start a run, More options lets you choose assignees for the new checklist.

Keep reusable details in routine tasks

For a custom gym workout, keep the exercise name short and use notes, timers, rests, and repetitions for details that should carry into every run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should instructions go in the name or notes?

Keep the name scannable and put explanations, links, or acceptance details in notes.

Why does a timer not appear in Checklist View?

Timers are designed for Play View. The task still appears in other available views, but the timer controls appear in Play.
