Delete a checklist

Delete a checklist only when you no longer need the checklist or any of its tasks. To remove finished tasks while keeping the checklist, delete the completed tasks instead.

Delete Checklist confirmation dialog

Delete the checklist

Open the checklist menu and select Delete Checklist. Review the confirmation carefully, then choose Delete to remove the checklist or Cancel to keep it.

If you only want to clear finished work, use Manage completed tasks. If you need another independent version, duplicate the checklist. For a process you expect to repeat, turn it into a routine before deleting it.

If you own the checklist, confirming the action deletes it for everyone. If you are not an owner, confirming removes only you from the checklist; it remains available to its owner and other members. Checklist asks you to confirm before either action.

When an owner deletes the checklist, it and its tasks are removed from normal use for everyone, so check that other people no longer need it.

Every plan lets you restore a deleted checklist from Trash for 3 days. Plus, Family, Pro, and Enterprise extend that period to 90 days. Trash requires an internet connection, and restoring after 3 days requires Plus or higher. If you delete while offline, the checklist appears in Trash after the deletion syncs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I undo a checklist deletion immediately?

There is no immediate undo button. Open Trash while the checklist is still within your plan's restore period.

Does Delete Checklist remove only completed tasks?

No. It removes the whole checklist. Use Delete Completed Tasks when you want to keep the checklist and its open tasks.
