Schedules, Due Dates, and Reminders
Schedules, due dates, and reminders all deal with time, but they do different things.
Schedule: create new work
Use a schedule with a template or routine when you want a fresh checklist to be created automatically.
For example, a daily shop-opening schedule can create a new checklist each morning.
A schedule does not set a deadline for every task. It creates the checklist that someone can work through.
Due date: set a deadline
Use a due date when one task should be finished by a particular time.
For example, Order supplies might be due on Thursday afternoon.
Changing the due date does not create another checklist.
Reminder: receive an alert
Use a reminder when you want Checklist to notify you about work, such as an approaching task due date. You can also set a repeating task reminder without creating another checklist.
Your account notification preferences and device settings can affect which alerts you receive.
Choose the right tool
| You want to... | Use... |
|---|---|
| Start a fresh opening checklist every morning | Template schedule |
| Finish a task before Friday | Task due date |
| Be alerted before a task is due | Reminder |
| Get repeated alerts about the same task | Repeating task reminder |
| Repeat a routine only when needed | Run the template manually |
Schedules and some reminder options depend on your plan and permissions. The web app supports more scheduling choices than the mobile routine scheduler.
