Assign tasks
Use assignments to show who is responsible for a step in a shared checklist. You can assign one person, several people, or the whole team when all active non-guest team members have access.

Assign the task
Open the task menu and select Assign. If the task already shows assignee pictures or initials, tap them to open the same menu.
Assign appears only when another person or the whole team can access the checklist.
- Select an unchecked person to assign them.
- Select a checked person to remove their assignment.
- Select the team entry when the checklist is shared with the whole team.
- Select several entries when more than one person is responsible.
Only people who can access the checklist appear. Guests appear only when the owner adds them directly through Checklist Members; they do not get access when the checklist is shared with the whole team.
Task assignment requires Family. If the current plan does not include it, the app shows which plan is needed. Only the organization owner can open the plan options.
You need a connection for assignment changes to reach other people's devices.
Assign tasks to the right people
Testing, deployment, customer communication, and final approval often fall to different people on a product release checklist. Assign each step so responsibilities stay clear without splitting the process into separate checklists.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I clear all assignments?
Open Assign and select each checked person or team entry to remove the checkmark.
Why is Assign missing from the Task menu?
No other person or the whole team has access to the checklist. Ask the owner to share it first.
Why can I see someone in the team but not in Assign?
Being in the team is not always enough. A guest must be included in the checklist directly; only active non-guest team members are included when the checklist is shared with the whole team.
