Work with tasks
A task is one step inside a checklist or routine. Beyond a name and status, it can include notes, attachments, priority, a due date, and assignments.

Common task actions
- Tap the checkbox to mark a task open or completed.
- Tap the task name to edit it. Put paragraphs or longer instructions in notes.
- Press and hold a task to reorder it when manual reordering is available.
- Swipe one way to delete a task or move a subtask up one level.
- Swipe the other way to make a task a subtask or focus on it and its children.
- Tap visible notes, an assignee avatar, due-date icon, priority icon, or attachment icon for a shortcut to that feature.
The swipe delete action does not ask for confirmation. Deleting a parent also deletes its subtasks. If the checklist links the status of parent tasks and subtasks, completing or reopening one task may update the others.
The Task menu
Tap the three-dot button beside a task to open its menu.
- Move/ Copy sends the task to another available checklist. See Move or copy tasks.
- Notes holds instructions or other details for this step. See Add task notes.
- Attach adds and manages task images or photos. See Add task attachments.
- Priority sets Low, Medium, or High, or clears the selected value. See Set task priority.
- Due date uses a quick time or a custom date and time. See Set task due dates.
- Assign chooses one or more people when the checklist is shared. See Assign tasks.
Assign is hidden when no other checklist member or whole-team access is available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can I not reorder a task?
Manual reordering is blocked while a sort or filter is active, subtasks are hidden, or you are focused on a task. Clear those view settings and try again.
Why did a parent task's status change?
The checklist may link statuses across its task hierarchy. In that case, completing the subtasks can complete their parent, while reopening a subtask reopens the parent.
