Pick your Bond marathon

Release order takes you through six actors and six decades of 007, from Cold War espionage to the more personal stories of the Daniel Craig era. It also preserves the introductions of recurring characters, gadgets and adversaries.

An actor’s run makes a manageable shorter project. George Lazenby has one film, Timothy Dalton two, Pierce Brosnan four, Daniel Craig five, Sean Connery six in the main series and Roger Moore seven. Connery’s return in Diamonds Are Forever comes after Lazenby’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, so an actor filter is useful even when the list stays in release order.

Daniel Craig’s connected story

For Craig’s run, follow Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, then No Time to Die. Casino Royale begins a new continuity, and Quantum of Solace picks up directly after it. Keeping that sequence preserves the character relationships and story developments across the five films.

The 25-film main series

The tracker follows the EON-produced series from 1962 to 2021. The separate Casino Royale comedy from 1967 and Never Say Never Again from 1983 account for the 27-film total you may encounter elsewhere. They can be extra viewing after your main-series marathon; the FAQ explains how they fit.

James Bond Movies in Order Frequently Asked Questions

Are there 25 or 27 James Bond movies?

The main EON-produced series contains 25 films. The total reaches 27 when you add the 1967 Casino Royale comedy and 1983’s Never Say Never Again, a separate adaptation of Thunderball starring Sean Connery. This watchlist follows the 25-film main series.

Should I watch James Bond movies chronologically?

Watch in release order to see the series evolve from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig. The earlier films have recurring characters and connections, while Casino Royale (2006) begins a new continuity. Watch Craig’s five films in their release order for that story.

Which James Bond movie should I watch first?

Dr. No starts the full release-order marathon and introduces Sean Connery as Bond. Casino Royale (2006) is another clear starting point: it begins Daniel Craig’s connected five-film story. Choose the full series or that shorter run according to the kind of marathon you want.

How many James Bond films did Sean Connery make?

Sean Connery appears in six films in the main series: Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever. He also stars in the separately produced Never Say Never Again, making seven Bond films across both productions.
