Fix a Cracked Vent Checklist

Supplies
Caulk
Roofing cement
Putty knife
Rags (for clean ups)
Grocery bag (for soiled rags and any other clean-up items)
Disposable or work gloves (optional)
Fasten the Vent Sleeve
Slide storm collar over the top of the vent sleeve.
Ensure the vent sleeve is low enough to make room for the rain cap.
Gently move the vent sleeve into the pipe
This will replace the existing vent.
Be Careful not to disturb any asbestos inside the pipe.
Caulk the Vent
Bond the storm collar in place with caulk
Use a generous amount of calk to ensure a secure, waterproof seal.
Check to ensure the bond is tight by running your finger along the seam.
Place the rain cap on top of the vent.
Repair Possible Roof Leaks
Observe and locate other holes or weak spots in the roof.
Use putty knife and roofing cement to patch up any leaks.
Use the roof cement to thoroughly cover any holes or cracks around the roof sheeting.
