Exterior
Mow the lawn and trim the vegetation.
Keep the lawn mowed on a regular basis as long as your home is on the market.
Clean the driveway.
Clear all vegetation from the walkways and out of driveway cracks.
Keep your garbage containers at the rear of the house .
Keep toys and bicycles from the yard.
Make sure the 'Real Estate For Sale' sign is upright, prominent, and in reasonably good condition.
Remove window screens from the front of the house and wash the windows.
Clean the front door and its frame.
Keep your garage door closed.
Place a few potted flowers up the front.
Place trash containers and other similar items out of sight.
Outdoor furniture should be kept clean and/or repainted if necessary.
Clean, repair or paint the gutters and downspouts.
Interior
Remove the sources of odor until the house sells
If you have pets, keep the pet areas clean.
If the house smells of tobacco, a deodorization may be in order.
Create a comfortable, 'homey' feel by placing a little bit of cinnamon on a slice of bread in the oven at low temperature.
Keep the kitchen clean and free of clutter.
Keep bathrooms free from clutter.
If you have children, keep their tub toys stored neatly.
Clean and dust the windowsills.
Keep blinds open and raised.
Dust everything.
Remove ashes and soot from fireplaces.
Clean all interior doors and frames.
Keep furniture tidy.
Clean and straighten closets.
Keep dirty laundry in a closed hamper.
