A different kind of 50-state travel goal
Visiting a state does not necessarily mean you've visited its capital. New York's capital is Albany, not New York City; California's is Sacramento, not Los Angeles; and Florida's is Tallahassee, not Miami. This list tracks the actual seat of government in all 50 states.
It's a different travel challenge from our 50 US States Checklist: if you've crossed a state line without exploring its capital, that state may be complete on one list but the city remains unchecked here. The map uses one marker per capital city.
Who it's for
How to use
- Mark a capital city visited when you've spent time there; simply passing through its state doesn't count for this list.
- Browse the 50 city markers on the map to identify capitals near places you're planning to visit.
- Save your checklist so the checked cities remain on your personal bucket list.
- Add dates, landmarks or ideas to notes in the saved checklist.
- Print or download the list for a road trip or offline reference.
